Description:

In 1980, this was the first junior fiction written by Hazel Edwards who is best known now for her ‘There’s a Hippopotamus on Our Roof Eating Cake’ picture book series.
It was inspired by her cousin John who was in a wheelchair and dedicated to him.
Originally called ‘Mum on Wheels’ (Hodder and Stoughton 1980), this slightly updated version is an insight into how although words may change, the importance of problem-solving via ‘good’ ideas remains.
Lee suggests her wheelchair-bound Mum keeps her gardening passion, using herbs-on-wheels.

Description:

"Sometimes Mummy has happy days, where she talks and laughs all day long. Sometimes Mummy is sad. She cries all day and stays in bed. Sometimes she's so sad she has to go to hospital."
The symptoms of a mental illness can be challenging enough for adults to understand and live with. For a child whose parent lives with bipolar disorder, witnessing and experiencing the highs and lows that this particular mental illness brings with it can be very difficult for a child to process.
'My Happy Sad Mummy' provides both a starting point; for the necessary dialogue that will lead the child to a clearer awareness and understanding of their parent's illness, as well as comfort; to know that their experience is a shared one.
"I strongly recommend 'My Happy Sad Mummy' - I have not seen anything of its like before." - Professor Philip Mitchell (AM, Scientia Professor, Head of the School of Psychiatry, University of New South Wales and Director of the Black Dog Institute)
"Author Michelle's personal journey of living these experiences suffuses the book with meaning and a gentle humour, which will provide families with wonderful opportunities for conversation about making sense of the situation." - Rose Cuff (Executive Director, Satellite Foundation. Victorian FaPMI Coordinator - Families where a Parent has a Mental Illness).

Description:

When Bobby's grandmother was thirteen, she and seven friends disappeared for a period of six days. No-one in town ever talks about this mystery but Bobby wants to know what happened then and if it was the reason why her grandmother always had a sad, faraway look in her eyes.
Red-haired, hot-tempered Bobby is an ultra-modern twelve-year-old girl from a Celtic background with ideas that could be described as alternative. Raised to be open-minded and confident by a single, working mother who holds angel card readings and is interested in New-Age beliefs, Bobby is fiercely independent in her own thinking and behaviour.
When she meets another home-schooler, David, who is from a big, highly educated Italian family and has been raised to have more conservative, mainstream beliefs and old-fashioned values, it is difficult to imagine how they could ever be friends. However, the do have something in common. David too has a mystery that he wants to solve about his own heritage.
Bobby is determined that she will solve the mystery of the missing children whether the wary David is prepared to be involved or not. But David does not have much choice.
With the help of a crystal ball possessing magical powers that Bobby has just stumbled across, the two are transported through a wormhole into another time dimension where they make startling discoveries, not only about their own ancestries but also about themselves.
Join them on an adventure where an evil workhouse and her orc slaves threaten to overrun the idyllic island paradise which has now become their new home.

Description:

The author of 'Better Out Than In' and 'Better Out Than In Number Twos' is back with a collection of random musings and drawings that will make kids laugh out loud. It includes Adam's wacky view of topics including 'Top 5 Dance Moves', 'Top 5 Super Powers' and 'Things That Look Cute But Will Scratch Your Eyes Out If You Try To Hug Them'. There's even a recipe for Roast Monkey Butt with Tofu and Apples (No monkeys were harmed in the making of this book though!).
It's random, it's weird and it's definitely hilarious! As Adam says, "Look, to be honest, it was just me rambling on about anything that popped into my head, and now there is a whole book of this random stuff! A WHOLE BOOK! THIS BOOK! OMG! Which means Oh My God. It doesn't mean, as I initially thought, Old Men Giggled. And LOL doesn't mean Lots Of Love! I found that out when someone died and I wrote to their wife and said, 'I hear that your husband died. I'm sorry. LOL.' It didn't go down too well."
