Description:

The eighth book in the Grafton Everest series sees the hapless ex-President of the Republic of Australia, Dr Professor Grafton Everest, caught up in a web of international espionage and intrigue that he is hopelessly ill-equipped to handle.
Abandoned to his own inadequate devices when his wife Janet departs on a world tour, with his home invaded by his now broke daughter and son-in-law, Grafton accepts an assignment with the United Nations to investigate electoral fraud in Russia. The reason is not only to get out of the house; an old letter from his mother, addressed to someone in the Soviet Union fifty years ago, suggests that Grafton may not be the only child that he always thought he was.
Grafton’s mission to Moscow and his search for this mysterious sibling take him far from the Russian capital, deep into the icy wastes of Siberia and even deeper in a tangled conspiracy whose roots extend back to the Cold War and even as far back as the Russian Revolution.

Description:

Jamie watches the Queensland town beneath him from the sheltered branches of the mango tree. Through days of shimmering heat choked with red dust to days of rainstorms bringing mud to the mangroves, everything is as it should be - the sights and sounds and smells are as familiar to him as the everlasting childhood in which they appear. Then everything changes overnight when he falls in love. A tender, fumbling first love that flowed and ebbed just as suddenly. And in its wake came death, the sudden shocking death of someone he loved.

Ronald McKie "...is a true professional... a super word-handler... This is a novel which bears the mark of the craftsman who is master of the language." - from the report of judges of the Miles Franklin Award, 1974.

Description:

The Matilda Principle offers a coaching approach that builds positive teams regardless of organisational culture. It builds trust, motivation and positivity without attracting attention and without rocking the boat. In other words, it is covert team building.
As a positive manager, you want people to do more than just show up. You also want people to enjoy working for you. You want them to trust you, to be motivated and loyal. In short, you want a positive team.
But you also know your hands are tied. Decisions about better pay and conditions are made above your pay grade. The HR department determines how performance reviews and job design are managed. And your own boss isn’t going to allow your team to work differently to other teams.
But what if you could create a positive team under the radar? What if team building could be done without permission, as an act of creative subversion?
In this book, Brad Desmond combines his wealth of experience as a psychologist and corporate trainer with cutting-edge studies into coaching and team building.
With The Matilda Principle you will better connect with your people and bring out their best, leaving others to guess your secret.

The first part of the book is written by Ron Goldschlager, a successful businessman and communal identity who cares deeply about humanity and our world. Description:

Pioneering ecologist and humanist N. N. Miklouho-Maclay lived at a time of great colonial and industrial expansion; he was a pupil of the German philosopher Ernst Haeckel. To prove that the people of all races are equally human, Maclay went to the island of New Guinea (1870), the first white man to do so and stayed years with native Papuans while the rest of the world presumed he had been eaten. His diaries are testimony to his time in New Guinea where he observed a native culture untouched by the outside world. Maclay describes his first meeting with the natives; "A few Papuans moved closer to me. Suddenly two arrows flashed in rapid succession close by me... As the first arrow passed me by, the eyes of many natives were fixed upon me, trying to read the impressions in my face; except for fatigue and curiosity, registered I no emotion." He was instead befriended by the Papuans; they called him Tamo Russ, believing that he had descended from the moon.
The diaries were originally edited with the help of Russian author Leo Tolstoy. The books sold millions of copies in Eastern Europe. Maclay tried hard to save Papuans and their traditional culture and died disillusioned at the age of 42. He tried to revise Darwin's theory of the selection of the species and challenged the idea that certain races of people are born genetically superior.
The New Guinea Diaries provide an authentic portrait of a timeless, sustainable and egalitarian tribal society before the Europeans moved into the area. The book is illustrated with original drawings made by Maclay during his New Guinean expedition.
